FAQ Group: Maintenance
How often should my model be serviced?
How often your model needs to be serviced depends, of course, on various factors. For example, if your model is used in hilly terrain or to transport heavy loads on a daily basis, it will need to be serviced more often, as the brakes are subjected to greater stress. Our general advice is to have your model serviced twice a year.
Tires and wheels
All tires are inspected for wear and punctures. All tires must have a pressure of between 4 and 6 bar. The wheels are checked for loose spokes and play in the wheel bearings. If the spokes are loose, they must be tightened by your bicycle dealer. If there is play in the wheel bearings, the wheel must be checked by your bicycle dealer as soon as possible.
General maintenance
The frame, wheels, box, etc. should be washed and cleaned regularly to remove dirt. The parts should be wiped with a damp cloth. Avoid dirt in the joints. Check regularly for loose parts and have them tightened by a bicycle dealer if necessary. All visible, moving parts: cables, adjustment screws, moving brake parts (NOT brake discs), chain, pedals, bell, and lock should be lubricated regularly with bicycle oil. Screws, threads, and axles can also benefit from a few drops of oil, and the chain should be tightened if necessary.
Maintenance of wood
Wipe the box inside and out with a damp cloth. The box can be sealed with a thin film of linseed oil applied with a cloth; the bench is also treated with linseed oil, including in the grooves on the side panels.
Hoods and cushions
Hoods and cushions can be hand washed in lukewarm water (max. 40°C). Excessive washing weakens the hood's resistance to water penetration; it is therefore recommended to wipe it lightly with a damp cloth or sponge instead.
Brake systems
It is very important to maintain your braking system regularly to ensure your safety, that of your children, and your surroundings. To ensure maximum safety, our braking systems should only be serviced by qualified technicians. Please contact one of our authorized dealers if the braking power has deteriorated or the braking system is braking unevenly.
