About Us
When we started assembling our first cargo bikes in the late 1970s, it was more of a dream than a business. We dreamed of transforming city life in Copenhagen—of giving families an alternative to the car, of making room on the streets for children, bikes, and community. But at the time, many people found it hard to believe in our idea. Cargo bikes were seen as heavy and clunky, and the car had long since taken over the cityscape.
Still, we stuck with it. For us, the cargo bike was a symbol of something bigger—a way to get around that was practical, sustainable, and offered space for socializing.
Today, we can see that the seed we planted back then has taken root far beyond the streets of Copenhagen. The cargo bike has become a part of everyday life for thousands of families around the world, and the trend continues to grow. When the Christiania bike was honored with the Danish Design Center’s Classic Award in 2010/2011, our idea was recognized as an icon of Danish cycling culture—a milestone we never could have imagined when we started.
But even though we’ve grown significantly over the years, we’ve always stayed true to the values we were founded on: honesty, respect, and community. Our workplace is driven by social responsibility—we work as a team, we make decisions together, and we grow together. Our products are designed with a focus on safety, quality, and durability, and we’re constantly looking for new ways to improve both our bikes and the way we work.
We’ve come further than we ever dared to dream. Yet we’re still driven by the same passion we had when we started. For us, building cargo bikes makes sense—not just because they’re practical, but because they represent a lifestyle centered on thoughtfulness, sustainability, and the joy of being together.
